Checked into this hotel because it was rated as a 3 star facility. It was awful!! Place was dumpy and dirty. Ceiling in the lobby showed water damage and peeing paint, which should have been our first clue to run and find another hotel. Balcony was in desperate need of repair. Bathroom was not upgraded and not at all appealing. Seemed dirty and moldy. Towels were thin and worn out. We stayed one night and ran to another hotel for the rest of our vacation.

Well this was our first and last trip to VA Beach and this hotel, OK so they changed their name to Grand ocean hotel saying that it's been renovated...ummm where? this place is a total dump, the staff is lousy, the rooms were dirty...sheets, housekeeping did not speak English, they claim to offer the child-find program...they do not! this is not a place to take your kids, there is a bar right near the pool and all the drunks are in your walkway to the beach or taking up space on the pool chairs, and SMOKING;the shower for cleaning off after beach was broken,clock did not work, TV only has like 5 stations, luggage carts really sucked!! if you venture out on balcony watch for dripping from all the air conditioners! Parking well no onsite parking you have to walk across Atlantic ave. and go up 4 streets and hope to find a spot....valet parking was non existent, music from bar was sooooo loud till 2am and we were on the far end of the hotel! just b/c the price is good I would run!! ohhh yeah and the halls had no air conditioning they were windows w/tiny screens in the bottom, and you WILL be walking the stairs allot, b/c there are 2 VERY slow elevators that you have to share w/housekeeping.

Internet pictures flattered hotel. Not so great in person. No parking near hotel. Had to circle block several times to get in line to check in. Room seem clean but bathroom was not as nice and clean as would be expected. Room was oceanfront but actually overlooked flat roof with heat pumps and other roof items. To much noise from heat pumps to sit on balcony. Paid for one night but went somewhere else same night and remainder of vacation.

This hotel is older and the building shows signs of wear. The bathroom had some spots of mold around the caulking and the balcony also showed some wear in the concrete. We did enjoy the ocean view - the pool is small but the kids enjoyed it. Parts of the hotel were under renovation when we stayed. The hotel restuarant was supreme! Even if you don't stay at the hotel definately eat at the restaurant! The crab cakes were fantastic along with the steamed vegetables. We usually stay at the northern end of the beach but this hotel was pretty close to the pier and the inlet.

Only thing nice I can say is 2 of the 10 hotel employees we were in contact with were nice, the dining area was nice, and the bed was comfortable. Other than that, this hotel deserves one star! When we arrived the air conditioner was broke, and had leaked all over our floor. The balcony door was unlocked and once we locked it, it wouldn't open again. Our room was dirty upon entering (dirty towel on bed, empty beer bottle on microwave, chewed up gum in a wrapper on the bed). Not enough towels for 4 people that reserved the room. We asked for a new room immediately but were told there weren't any (told the same thing the next day). The hotel had 2 elevators, which were both never working at the same time. Sometimes neither were working and we had to take the stairs, which took you to a back alley entrance on a side street. We had to park 2-3 blocks away. Upon checkout, we asked for a survey form and the "female" out the counter said "we don't have those". We proceeded to tell her about our complaints, while another female working there listened, but never spoke. The female we were addressing, cut us off with a "I'm sorry, I just work here". In other words: She was prepared for our comments, along with everyone elses. Everyone we spoke to that weekend that were guests in the hotel had nothing positive to say. This is the 2nd review I've attempted to post. The 1st one was never posted on here and I'm not sure why. If this one isn't posted, I will be contacting a manager at Travelocity.
