We were originally booked for 7 nights. In about 30 seconds of entering the room, we wanted to leave - the room was so small and poorly laid out. Everything in the room needs to be changed - the furniture, bedding, pillows - They were very old and stale.The room had the odor of cigarette smoke even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. We went back to reception desk and asked for our money back. We were told that we could not be refunded the deposit (Sunday night) so we spent the night. We were really disappointed as for that amount of money, we expected better. The only good thing was the location. I must say that the staff were really pleasant and processed our refund immediately.

We were the last room to check in for the 4th of July weekend so the staff was waiting for us. They greeted us warmly and called me by name. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed including frig, microwave, coffeemaker, safe, and two very comfortable full size beds. All rooms have balconys that overlook the boardwalk and ocean, which was awesome. Continental breakfast was adequate so we only ate that meal out once. Hotel offers free bikes for cruising the boardwalk or town. We took advantage and enjoyed our hour long ride. Pool area was always clean. We were very impressed with the Econo Lodge on the Ocean!!

My wife and I came down to Virginia Beach for the weekend recently. We were very pleased with the Econo Lodge. The hotel's location is perfect - right on the beach at 28th Street near all what Virginia Beach has to offer. The room was spotless and comfortable with a great view of the ocean and boardwalk. I appreciated the free bike rentals and the free breakfast that was served. I think that the best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. The next time we go back to Virginia Beach, this is the only place where we'll stay at.

This hotel was affordable, very clean and well maintained. It's an older place and is lacking some of the bells and whistles of neighboring hotels, but for the price you can't beat it. If you're looking for a great beachfront value, Econo Lodge on the Ocean is a good option.

We had a Great stay at the Econo Lodge,Great service,Clean,Very friendly staff. the only thing that I did not like is when you go to get the continental Breakfast that is included,and I was looking for when booking hotel,They do not have any place to sit down and eat. we actually had to stand outside and eat our breakfast on day 1, on day 2 my wife went down and got breakfast and brought it back to the room which was very inconvienant.
